Saint Martin is a small tropical island located in the
Caribbean about 300km to the East of Puerto Rico and in the North of the Caribbean Lesser Antilles chain. St Martin is a smallest island in the World to be divided by 2 nations sharing 2 different cultures.
Normally, it is known as St Martin as the French usually call it and the Dutch call it Sint Maarten. Not only administratively but also geographically, the islands is divided into 2 halves roughly through its middle by a salt water pond.
On the Southern side (Basse-Terre) is St Maarten, a Dutch dependency which is particularly renowned for its restaurants. The French dependency, St Martin lies to the North (Grand Terre) and is renowned for its beautiful beaches and abundant water sports offered.
