Low Isles Itinerary (Full Day) Departs 8:45am | Returns 4:30pm | Max 12 Passengers A day’s journey to one of the jewels of the Great Barrier Reef, the coral cay island of Low Isles. Situated just 1 hours cruising from Port Douglas, Low Isles is enchanting. Fringing coral reefs, sandy beaches and tropical rainforest combine to offer a very relaxing encounter with the Great Barrier Reef. Relax aboard Galaxy I as the crew serves lunch or take a leisurely stroll around Low Isles. No trip to the Great Barrier Reef is complete without seeing the kaleidoscope of colour below the water’s surface and Galaxy I’s crew is on hand to ensure that this experience will be one to savour.
Outer Reef Itinerary (Full Day) Departs 8:15am | Returns 5:30pm | Max 12 Passengers Galaxy I’s Outer Reef Itinerary is an experience that will not be forgotten. Boarding early morning, Galaxy I cruises for approx 2 hours to a specially selected location on the outer ribbon reefs. Typically the visibility is clear, the marine life abundant and the coral amazing as you immerse yourself into this extraordinary natural wonder. Lunch is served by Galaxy I’s on board chef, and guests are encouraged to relax and utilize the spacious decks and enjoy all that Galaxy I has to offer.
Suggested Itineraries - Multi-Day Charters 3 Day Lizard Island • Day One - Leaving Port Douglas mid afternoon, you will cruise to the stunning Undine Sand Cay. There is time for a quick snorkel before drinks and canapés are offered, watching the sunset on the Great Barrier Reef. Dinner is served before Galaxy I departs for a overnight cruise to it’s next anchorage. (D) • Day Two - Awake to the gentle dawn light of North Queensland’s sunrise. Breakfast is served alfresco on the saloon deck as you look forward to the days activities on the ribbon reefs of the Great Barrier Reef. The reef is yours to enjoy as Galaxy I’s experienced crew help you to encounter this wonderful natural spectacle. Snorkelling, exploring on Galaxy I’s wave runner and sea kayaks are just some of the activities available before sitting down for lunch. By prior arrangement a dive instructor can take you diving on the Great Barrier Reef (additional cost). At the end of the day, drinks and canapés are again served as you look forward to a culinary event by Galaxy I’s on board chef. Galaxy I again cruises through the night to it’s next location. (B,L,D) • Day Three - A leisurely breakfast, as Galaxy I arrives at Lizard Island. A final swim on the Great Barrier Reef, before the crew of Galaxy take you ashore for your stay at Lizard Island Resort. (B) • To maximise time on the Great Barrier Reef, the majority of cruising is done at night time while guests are sleeping. This itinerary may be operated in reverse. Scuba Diving is an optional extra.
3 Day Cape Tribulation and the Great Barrier Reef • Day One - Leaving Port Douglas, you will cruise to the mouth of the mighty Daintree River. You will be met by an experienced tour operator who will take passengers on a ½ day tour into the ancient rainforests of the Daintree. Arriving back on Galaxy I, sunset drinks are served as you relax at your sheltered overnight anchorage. (L,D) • Day Two - Awake to the gentle dawn light of North Queensland’s sunrise. Breakfast is served alfresco on the saloon deck as Galaxy I begins cruising to the Outer Barrier Reef. The reef is yours to enjoy as Galaxy I’s experienced crew help you to encounter this wonderful natural spectacle. At the end of the day, drinks and canapés are served as you enjoy a sunset like no other before sitting down to dinner. (B,L,D) • Day Three - A leisurely breakfast, as Galaxy I begins the cruise home. The last stop on the journey is the spectacular coral cay of Low Isles. A final swim on the Great Barrier Reef, before the marina of Port Douglas beckons and Galaxy I berths mid afternoon. (BL)
5 Day Cooktown and Lizard Island • Day One - The area north of Port Douglas is considered to be one of the last frontiers of Australia. Uninhabited coastlines, wild rivers and never ending rainforest paint a picture of harsh, but beautiful country. Leaving Galaxy I’s home port, you will journey along this coast to Cooktown, one of the most historical townships of Australia. (D) • Day Two - Upon awakening, a ½ day tour in Cooktown is organised for you. After lunch, Galaxy I cruises from Cooktown to the spectacular Lizard Island for overnight anchorage. (B,L,D) • Day Three - Lizard Island is frequented by only a few and it is yours to discover. Rising 359m above the coral sea, it is a stark contrast to the sparkling waters that surround it. Walking trails, amazing snorkelling and fishing are just some of the activities you can look forward to. Galaxy I remains at Lizard Island for overnight anchorage. (B,L,D) • Day Four - After breakfast, Galaxy I cruises to the extraordinary ribbon reefs of the Great Barrier Reef. The day is spent relaxing either on board Galaxy I or enjoy the fascinating underwater world of the reef. After dinner, Galaxy I begins cruising for home. (B,L,D) • Day Five - Awake to the lovely vista of Low Isles, a stunningly beautiful coral cay sitting off the North Queensland coast. A final walk, a final swim, before Galaxy I returns to her home port. (B,L)
Expeditionary Itineraries - Minke Whales The below itineraries can be taken as either a 3, 4 or 5 night experience. All expeditions leave from Port Douglas and disembark passengers at Lizard Island. Airfares from Lizard Island are not included in these costs, however flights can be arranged. • Port Douglas - Ribbon Reefs - Limousine transfers will pick guests up from their Port Douglas accommodation and transfer you down to Marina Mirage for boarding of Galaxy I. Pre dinner drinks and canapes are served before sitting down to a welcome dinner with an expert on the Dwarf Minke Whale, who will outline the itinerary and what to expect from these extraordinary creatures. Galaxy I will leave Port Douglas at approximately 9pm for an overnight cruise to the first reef location. • Day One - Wake up to the Ribbon Reefs stretching out before you. Enjoy breakfast prepared by Galaxy I’s onboard chef before the first dive/snorkel. This will be accompanied by an in depth briefing of the guidelines for swimming with Minke Whales. Afterwards, travel to your next destination, searching for whales whilst underway. If whales are keen to interact, don your wetsuit for an experience of a lifetime. Watch as their confidence and curiosity grows, bringing them eye to eye with you. In the evening, attend an interpretive talk by researchers on whale biology, behaviour and the history behind the Minke Whale Project. Overnight Galaxy I. • Day Two - Depending on the events of the previous day, focus upon either diving or snorkelling on the reef or spotting whales. The next dive site will be selected based on weather conditions and seasonal marine highlights. Night dives are offered on most evenings. Meals are again prepared during the day by Galaxy I’s onboard chef. Overnight Galaxy I. • Day Three - Another connecting with nature day of looking for whales and exploring more of the Great Barrier Reef. If found, help researchers identify animals, behaviour and keep an ear our for the Minkes’s unique acoustic repertoire. If guests choose the 3 night option, they will be disembarked at Lizard Island for a charter flight back to Cairns. • Day Four - The final day to get wet with the Minkes! Spend the morning diving while on the look out for whales. Spend the afternoon at magnificent Lizard Island. Activities can include exploring one of it’s 24 beaches, climbing historical Cook’s Lookout or even go on a “muck dive” within Watsons Bay. Enjoy your final night on board Galaxy I. Guest choosing the 4 night option will be disembarked on Lizard Island in the afternoon for their flight back to Cairns.
