Menorca Yacht Charter Information
Menorca is the second-largest of the Balearic Islands and is both smaller and quieter than its neighbor Mallorca. It is situated about 34 km from the eastern coast of Mallorca. Menorca has surprisingly almost as many beaches as its famous neighbors, Mallorca and Ibiza.
Menorca is a renowned destination for yacht charters and is usually called the island of winds. Charterers who wish to charter a bare yacht in the region, they will need to have an ICC (International certificate of competence) or an RYA.
Menorca is blessed with a central Mediterranean climate which guarantees abundant sunshine throughout the whole year; the yacht charter season generally runs from April to the end of October. It is not particularly recommended to charter a yacht during the peak season (July and August), as the winds tend to be much lighter and it is also much more expensive.
The island has 216 km of coastline and 120 different beaches. The coastline of Menorca is varied and often stunningly beautiful and natural.
It is recommended to visit the North coast and discover interesting places like Cala Morrell, Cap De Cavalleria, Fornells and especially Cap de Favaritx for their landscape and stunning views around the whole perimeter.
Near the marinas, there are also numerous bars and restaurants which are worth a visit during your stay in the region. For yacht charterers who seek for more leisure activities, it is important to know that entertainment in Menorca is seven days a week.
Menorca has some lovely anchorages in Isla Colom, Cap del Fleu, Cap Formentor. There are marinas in Puerto de Mahon, Puerto de Ciudadella, Puerto de Fornells and Puerto de Cala de Addaya .
Puerto de Mahon offers 226 moorings for yachts measuring up to 18m and having a maximum draught of 10m.
The Club Náutico de Ciutadella is located in Ciutadella de Menorca, it offers moorings for yachts measuring up to 20m long and having a maximum draught of 3m.
The Marina Port de Ciutadella offers 202 moorings for yachts measuring up to 15m long and with a maximum draught of 5m.
The Club Depotivo Cala’n Bosch is an ideal marina for medium size yachts and motor yachts; it offers 264 moorings for yachts having a maximum length of 18m long and with a maximum draught of 1.2m.
