Jost Van Dyke

Jost Van Dyke Yacht Charter Information

Jost Van Dyke has an area of around 4 miles long. It is the smallest of the four main islands of the British Virgin Islands, the northern portion of the archipelago of the Virgin Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

Jost Van Dyke lies about 8 km to the northwest of Tortola and 8 km to the north of Saint John. Little Jost Van Dyke lies off its eastern end.

Like many of the neighboring islands, it is volcanic in origin and mountainous. The highest point on the island is Roach Hill at 321 meters (1054 ft).

Jost Van Dyke has fewer than 300 inhabitants and they are widely known as a welcoming people. The most frequent destination is the Great Harbour.

It is truly the barefoot island known by travelers around the world for its casual lifestyle, protected anchorages, fine beaches and beachfront restaurants and bars.

It is a favourite destination of yacht charterers. Jost Van Dyke hosts the famous Foxys New Year parties that make one giant raft-up of Great Harbour.

The beach strip around the harbour is lined with small bars and restaurants. Located in nearby White Bay is the Soggy Dollar Bar, another famous beach bar on the island.

Named for its long and lovely white sand beach, White Bay, now very popular with boaters, is protected by extensive reefs.

The most frequent destination is Great Harbour. The harbour is sheltered by small mountains. An ample, if sometimes difficult holding, anchorage, Great Harbour has moorings as well as an easy entrance down the center, but avoid the large reef that extends 300 yards from the beach.
