Sant Feliu de Guixols is a town which lies in the Comarca of Baix Emporda in the province of Catalonia in Spain. It is situated at the heart of the Costa Brava and the town is engulfed by numerous hills with forest pine, cork and oak trees.
Sant Feliu de Guixols is a all year round holiday resort offering a coastline which spreads over 10km with an array of contrasts, there are stretches of cliffs interrupted by coves and bays with fine sandy beaches.
The town of Feliu de Guixols has a rich and surprisingly historical and architectural heritage that you will see in many of its buildings and monuments. An outstanding example of this is the famous architectural complex of Sant Feliu de Guixols’ Monastery which was built in 1723 by the Benedictine order.
Sant Feliu de Guixols is also a major yacht charter destination and hosts the Club Nautic Sant Feliu de Guixols which offers 260 berths for yachts measuring up to 14m long.
As soon as you set anchor at Club Nautic Sant Feliu de Guixols, you can stroll down the pleasant seaside promenade lined with many pavement cafes.
You can continue your exploration of the town by visiting the Old Fort that dates back from the 18th century and the Sea Rescue building (1889), both located on the side of the Old Medieval harbor.
At the chapel of Sant Elm which was built in 1723 over the remains of a defence tower, you will get some impressive panoramic views of the area.
In the town center, you can also visit the Toy History Museum which houses more than 2500 toys that date between 1870 and 1970. Practically all the toys are made in Spain and belong to the private collection of Tomas Pla.
Sant Feliu de Guixols also hosts many cultural activities in order to assure that you will not get bored out of season.
Most of the major festivals are held during the summer months like the International Music Festival Porta Ferrada held in July and August every year.
