Llanca

Llanca is fishing town which lies in the comarca of the Alt Emporda in Catalonia in Spain. It is located on the Mediterranean coast between Cap de Creus and the French border and at about 7 km from the Port de la Selva.

Llanca is considered as a popular tourists’ destination along the Iberian coast and it is also a renowned yacht charter base. The new town and the Port are joined and been transformed into a pleasant urbanization area extending along the coastline hosting a number of hotels, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

There is a good choice of beaches and coves on either sides of the main beach while the others are dotted with a circular, fine, dark gritty sand where the surrounding water is exceptionally clear.

The Port de Llanca can accommodate up to 497 berths for yachts measure up to 15m long and is also within easy distance to Port Escartit, Port Escala and Port Roses. Around the marinas of Llanca, you will find many bars and restaurants where you can spend a nice time.

You will also have the opportunity to visit the monastery of Saint Pere de Rodes which is located between the city center and the port , considered to be the one of the most important buildings in the entire region of Catalonia since the Roman Era. From the port area, you will find several foot paths that will lead you to the monastery or you can also reach it from the Vall de Santa Creu.

The town of Llanca is situated near some interesting towns nearby like Figueres and Girona which are in turn only 2 hours from Barcelona. You can sail towards the town of Figueres where you can visit the famous Dali Museum.

You will also have the opportunity to visit several small Mediterranean villages along the coast like Collieure, Port de la Selva, Cadaques-Cap de Creus and also some fishing towns like Roses and L’Escala.

You can also visit the medieval villages of Peralada which hosts the greatest musical festivals in the area, the romantic village of Besalu, the volcanic villages of Pau, Pals and La Bisbal with its ceramic industry and also the Jewish city of Girona.

During you visit in Llanca, you are recommended to taste the famous Catalan Cuisine which is a mixture of various Mediterranean products with the Catalan products of the land and the sea.
