Cartagena is a Mediterranean town and a naval station which lies in the region of Murcia in Spain. It is located on the Costa Calida in the southeast of Spain, to the South of Murcia, Torrevieja, Orihuela, Alicante and Elche.

Cartegena is often defined as a fairy-tale city of romance and sheer beauty and as a place to drop all sightseeing routines.The city is dotted with a maze of cobbled alleys where you will see some enormous balconies shrouded with bougainvilleas and many massive churches casting their shadows across the leafy plazas.

It is also a place to relax at one of the many open-air cafes, prime viewing spots to watch the parades of horse-drawn carriages, fashionable locals and mystified visitors.

Cartegena is also a renowned yacht charter destination and hosts several good marinas: Puerto Deportivo de Cartagena with 400 berths for yachts measuring up to 20m long, Real Club Nautico de Regatas de Cartegena with 100 berths for yachts measuring up to 20m long, Club Nautico Mar de Cristal with 162 berths for yachts measuring up to 12m long and Puerto Deportivo Isla Menores with 100 berths for yachts measuring up to 12m long.

The marinas are also within easy distance to the marinas in Mar Menor and Marina Salinas in Torrevieja. From the marinas in Cartagena, you can also escape to the nearby Isle of Rosario.

During your visit in Cartagena, you will find numerous beaches within the city alone where you can spend your entire day sunbathing and practicing the various water sports offered. Some of the most popular beaches near the port area include the Isla Plana, the Cala Del Pino and the Isla Menores. You will also find some more secluded beaches in Cala Cortina and Calblanque.

During your visit in the area, you will have the opportunity to explore many architectural landmarks from where you will learn more of the famous architectural history and the many treasures found within the city. You can visit the Archaeological Museum. You are particularly recommended to visit the Punic Rempart that surrounds the city.

In order to make your experience of Cartagena more complete, you can also visit the area during the several festivities like the Holy Week Celebrations which lasts during 10 days. The celebration begins with the Dolores Friday which is before the Palm Sunday up until Easter Sunday.

In Cartagena, golfing is a popular attraction in the area. You are particularly recommended to visit the Golf course of La Manga Club which is located in Los Belones.
