Calasetta

Calasetta is a small town which lies on the island of Sant’Antioco to the southwest coast of Sardinia.

It is connected to the mainland of Sardinia by a causeway which is renowned for hosting numerous flamingos who come into the area to feed.

For most visitors, Calasetta is a perfect destination where one can visit numerous superb beaches and interesting towns along the South coast.

It hosts a friendly community and its main street is always alive with local families and many visitors until midnight and beyond.

Most of the beaches are easily accessible from Carloforte which lies on the island of San Pietro where you can spend your day exploring the numerous shops, bars and restaurants.

Calasetta is also a well-known yacht charter destination in the area and hosts a beautiful little marina called Marina Calasetta which offers about 140 berths for yachts having a maximum length of 20m.

The Marina Calassetta enjoys a perfect location on the Mediterranean Sea and is within easy distance to Porto Vesme in Portoscuso, Marina di Carloforte, Marina Buggerru and Marine Cala Verde which are also interesting places worth visiting when sailing in the area.

The road along the tower will lead you to 3 enchanted beaches: Sotto Torre, La Saline and the Spiaggia Grande.

While chartering your yacht in the area, it is recommended to stop on the bridge where you will see numerous pink flamingos resting in the calm water of the area.

You can also visit the famous Chia beach which lies in the way towards Cagliari.

It is a huge bay, renowned for its fine sandy beaches where you can practice all types of watersports especially kites and surfing as it may get very windy at times.

If you are seeking for a less windy spot, you can also move to Cala Cipolla on the Onion Bay a few steps away.
