Ibiza Yacht Charter Information
Ibiza is the most westerly Island of the Balearic, it lies at about 50 miles off the coast of Cabs de Nao on the Spanish mainland. The Greeks called Ibiza and Formentera the Islas Pitiusas (Islands of Pine Trees). It is located at about 79km off the coast of the city of Valencia in Iberian Peninsula.
Ibiza is 26 miles long and 16 miles wide and covers an area of 22 square miles. It is the 3rd largest Balearic Island dotted with sandy beaches, hidden coves, cliffs with whitewashed houses. Ibiza is a popular yacht charter destination and its location is suitable for both motor and sailing yachts or catamaran.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the Dalt Vila, a soul-like walled city which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ibiza is a getaway to other interesting destinations like San Antonio and Isla Conejera.
Once you reach the bay of San Antonio, you can either spend the night anchored or moored close to the very lively town. You will be able to stop at the chill out-famous Café Del Mar or let go in the bay on the SE side of Isla Conejera, another National park.
You van also anchor and snorkel in the outer islands, Islas Bledas. You can also sail further and visit Isla Conejera and Isla Bosque which are also interesting spots.
The preferred areas for yachts are around Cala Binirras, a deep cove well sheltered from most winds. Further to the east, you can also anchor in Cala Portinatx, a very convenient jumping off point for Mallorca.
The yacht charter scene in Ibiza has become increasingly popular and all types of yachts are available for charter. During a cruise along Ibiza, numerous marinas and anchorage spots can be found.
The Marina de Ibiza is located near the Puerto Ibiza la Nueva; it offers 539 moorings for large size yachts which measure up to 25m long and having a maximum draught of 6m.
The Marina Botafoch is located in Ibiza town; it offers 426 moorings for yachts measuring up to 30m long and maximum draught of 4.5m. For yacht charterers who approach the marina while leaving Isla Botafoch, they will find a lighthouse at about 200m and the entrance to the marina Botafoch is just outside the main harbor.
The Puerto Deportivo de Eutalia is also located in the city, it offers up to 755 moorings for yachts measuring up to 25m long and with a maximum draught of 5m.
The Club Nautico de San Antonio Abad offers 500 moorings for medium size yachts measuring up to 25m long and with a maximum draught of 4.5m.
