Patmos is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. One of the northernmost islands of the Dodecanese complex. The Municipality of Patmos includes the offshore islands of Arkoi, Marathi and several uninhabited islets.
Patmos is located between Leros and Ikaria and is a mountainous island with beautiful landscaping and beaches. The main communities of Patmos are Chora, its capital and Skala.
Skala is the main settlement on Patmos and features whitewashed houses and flowered courtyards. Villages close to Patmos are Kambos and Netia. Kambos is located near the finest beach on Patmos. Netia holds fine restaurants and a newly built dive center.
The eastern coast of Patmos is embellished with fine sandy or pebbled beaches with crystalline and blue waters. Some of those beaches are secluded and almost deserted, while others are organised and propose various facilities and rentals.
Only a very few bars and small clubs are available in the capital of Patmos Island, in Skala and in Kambos. In Chora, Aloni Restaurant organises traditional nights with live Greek music and dance performances.
The closest beach to the port is Meloi which is two kilometres north east of Skala, where you will find a pleasant tree-lined stretch of sand and some good spots for snorkeling. The excellent and well-equipped Stefanos Camp Site is right by the beach.
The tranquil water of the Aegean Sea is one of the many offerings of the many fine beaches of Patmos Island. Whether in a private boat or a rental, tourists will find themselves at awe with the experience they will get with the treasures of beaches.
The island of Patmos and its neighbours form an ideal tranquil yacht charter area, close to charter bases in Kos or Samos. Patmos forms parts of the smaller islands Lipso, Arki, Agathonisi and Farmakonisi and is a rugged island of volcanic origin.

Psili Ammos, in the south west corner of Patmos, is a beautiful cove of pure sand with tamarisk trees. You can catch a water taxi from Skala or if you want to steal a march on your fellow day trippers, take an early morning cab as far as Diakofti then walk 30 minutes to the beach.
