Mykonos is so beautiful, it is no accident that it has become one of the most desired yacht charter destinations in the world. If you add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historic treasures of the nearby Delos to its stunning natural beauties and picturesque villages, you will have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday.
It is home to one of the best restaurants in Greece, the Gallup Restaurant & Bar at Platis Gialos. Not only is the food excellent, but the staff and owners go out of their way to make sure that their customers are always happy.
Mykonos Chora, the islands port town and capital, is still considered by many as the Greek Saint-Tropez and it never fails to allure the crowds that flood it every year, thanks to its unique character that locals have managed to preserve almost intact to this day.
Perpendicular to the harbour is the main street, called Matoyanni, and that, along with its neighbouring streets, consists the towns commercial core, full of shops, cafes and bars for every budget and every taste.
At the western end of the harbour stands one of Choras landmarks, the Church of Paraportiani, a whitewashed group of four chapels in vernacular architectural style.
Little Venice is a picturesque neighbourhood at the southwest end of the port and owes its name to the fact that many of the islands wealthy early captains built their houses directly on the sea here.
It is the towns most idyllic spot and attracts yacht charters throughout the year. During the late afternoon, you can enjoy a wonderful sunset on one of the stylish bars overlooking the water.
There are several beached you can enjoy in the area:
Mykonos Super Paradise Beach Plintri: Despite the paradise setting, do not come here for a peaceful day – music blares from huge loud speakers and the beach partying often continues all day long. It is a great beach for yacht charters to visit due to the fact that is reachable only by boat.
Mykonos Psarou Beach: A fully organised beach, offers glamour and prestige. It is the place to see and to be seen. Nammos the beach restaurant, offers the same glamour and prestige. In high season it is one of the most popular beaches among yacht charters and other tourists.
Cruise ships and yacht charters are able to dock at the relatively new cruise port at Tourlos, about 1.2 miles north of Hora (Mykonos Town).
