Veli Iz is a small island which forms part of the Zadar archipelago along the Adriatic coast in Croatia. It is located between the island of Ugjian on the northeast and Dugi Otok on the southwest. The main interest of the island of Iz is its beautiful marina, located in Veli which is an ideal holiday resort village if you are looking for peace and quiet during your vacation.
Veli Iz is the main center of the island and hosts many restaurants bars and shops. It is also a renowned yacht destination in Croatia and offers an excellent cruising ground where you can sail around the 10 islets and cliffs around the island and towards the Kornati islands.
The Iz Marina (Tankerkomerc Marina Veli Iz) is a small marina located on the eastern shore of the island in Veli. It offers 45 berths along the coast and 150 more on the land for yachts measuring up to 25m long. The Tankerkomerc Marina Veli Iz offers good shelter for yachts, although at times there can be some strong winds that can cause an uncomfortable swell in the harbor.
The marina is also close to Dalmacija marina and Borik Marina in Zadar.
As Veli Iz enjoys a perfect location in the Adriatic Sea; you can easily sail towards the islands of Dugi Otok, the largest island of Zadar archipelago and Ugjian Island, also known as the suburb and garden of Zadar.
On the island of Dugi Otok, you are recommended to visit the southwest and the western parts of the island. To the southwest of the Dugi Otok, you can explore the Nature Park of Telescica which forms part of the Kornati National Park.
The western part of the island is well-known for its popular tourist resort of Bozava where you will find the sandy beach of Sakarum and the Veli Rat lighthouse which dominates the entire area from where you will get some spectacular views of the island and the surrounding areas nearby.
On the island of Ugjian, you can visit the famous tourist resorts of Kukljica and Preko where you can enjoy a nice time sunbathing, swimming or practicing all types of water sports offered. You can continue your exploration of the area in the town of Ugjian, where you will see Kali which is the home port of the best fishermen in the Adriatic Sea.
You can also visit the idyllic island of Galevac which lies opposite to Preko beach.
