It is dotted with a spacious coastline, numerous intricate coves and a clean clear sea. It is also known to be the nautical centre as it hosts the largest marina in Croatia and on the Adriatic Sea.
The huge marina of Sukosan is one of the principal reasons for visiting the village and together with the Tustica Nature complex nearby, the pebble beaches, comfortable camp sites, distinguished buildings, olive groves and a rich culture and tradition, Sukosan has become a major tourist centre.
You can find berths in the area where directed however it is advisable to use the dinghy to reach the harbor office as it is quite a long way round from the visitors’ berths.
The Marina Dalmacija is also within easy distance to Zadar Marina and Kornati Marina in Biograd Na Noru. Sukosan is considered as an ideal spot to start a yacht charter trip to visit the nearby National Park Kornati, the beautiful Telescica Bay Nature Park and the Zadar archipelago.
During a visit in Sukosan, you can visit the famous parish Church of St Kasijan which lies on the old village, considered to have maintained the same shape since the 17th century. The Upper Gate is also worth visiting, it is the lefts of the ancient walls built by the Venetians (1468-1470) that used to protect Sukosan.
You can also visit the numerous beaches in the area, like the Djecji Raj beach which is a true paradise for children due to its shallow water.
The Gran Port beach which lies at the entrance to the town from Zadar is also interesting. It is covered with pebbles and is lined with many pine trees that provide natural shade during the hot summer days.
Sports enthusiasts are particularly recommended to visit Makarska beach where they will find many sports and there is also a playground for beach volley ball and a basketball court.
You will also find numerous restaurants and bars scattered in the town where you can taste the different specialties of the area and after dinner, visit one the various nightclubs nearby.
