Pomer is a small village which lies in the southern part of Istria in Croatia. It is located in the depth of a bay, protected from the cold winds and soothed by the shade of the trees between Pula and Medulin.
Pomer is well-known for its cultivation of oysters and mussels, as it lies above the shallow Pomer Cove. To most visitors, Pomer is defined as a quiet and laid back place of revived memories which come back with each wave on its beautiful coast.
The sea is one of the most popular attractions in this corner of paradise and it was first noticed by the Romans who named it Pomoerium and built their luxurious spas, villas and harbor.
Pomer is also a popular yacht charter destination in Croatia and attracts many sailors every year because of its attractiveness that make them return to its marina.
The Marina Pomer can accommodate up to 250 yachts having a maximum length of 16m and you can find berth where directed.
Pomer also hosts some of the most popular beaches in the area and near its marina you will find the famous Camp Pomer which is placed in a thick pine wood which has been recently renovated and well-equipped with many fun facilities.
By the coast, there is a rocky beach with some pebbly bays and also an arranged paved part where you can enjoy sunbathing.
Near the beach, you will find some bars and restaurants where you can taste some delicious mussels grown in the area and some traditional dishes that have been prepared according to the old recipes with freshly picked herbs.
There are also some interesting places in the town that are worth visiting, like the graveyard church of St Fiora (Fragments of frescos), a Romanesque building with a semi-circular apse.
You can also visit the Ruins of the Byzantine graveyard church of St John which is located in Funtana Bay. The Church of St John is renowned for its magnificent mosaic floor.
During the summer season, you will have the opportunity to witness many folk festivals organized in the town where there are also the famous chamber concerts that are held in the old churches.
