Ploce is a town and a seaside resort which lies in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County in Croatia. It is located on the Adriatic coast to the North of the Neretva River delta and is as such a natural seaside endpoint of most of the north-south routes through the central Dinaric Alps.
Ploce is renowned for hosting Ploce Gate, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubrovnik. The Ploce Gate was designed to offer a double defense system that has proved to be quite effective in times when the city was attacked.
The small inner Gate of Ploce is sheltered by a high fort, the Asimon Fort (or the Fort of Ploce) was erected in Romanesque style. The Ploce Gate is located on the northeast corner of the old town center and near the small port area, which is a major yacht charter destination in the area.
The Harbor of Ploce is presently one of the biggest harbors in the Adriatic Sea and there is more than 75% of its traffic to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the harbor, there is the international marine border and the visiting yachts will find berths inside the harbor and can moor on the SW quay which offers good shelter.
Ploce is also within easy distance to the 2 marinas in Dubrovnik: ACI Marina Dubrovnik and Marina Cruz.
During you visit in Ploce, you will have the opportunity to explore the River Neretva area which hosts over 310 different varieties of beautiful birds.
You can also visit the numerous beaches in the area, however you cannot expect to see vast sweeps of sand but you will find sparkling water and a clean stretch of rocks, pebbles or gravel to throw down your towel.
It is particularly recommended to visit Banje Beach which is located near the old town, this contribute to make it a convenient beach where you can enjoy some of the best views of Dubrovnik’s walls.

Sailing further forward, you will reach Copacabana Beach which will surely remind you of Rio. It is a perfectly pleasant beach where you can enjoy numerous interesting water sports activities like waterskiing or windsurfing.
