Mauritius Yacht Charter Information
Mauritius is an island which lies off the southeast coast of the African mainland and in the southwest of the Indian Ocean, to the East of Madagascar. It is the most developed of the Mascarene Islands and is a fascinating world-in-one island slice of paradise and its very name conjures up fascinating images of tropical luxury and stupendous extravagance. The island became well-known after the rare species called the Dodo.
It is renowned for its cobalt blue sea, white sandy beaches and some of the best hotels in this world, and there are also numerous historic sites scattered over the island, a unique cultural diversity, geographic variations and limitless activities to distract you from the daily grind of beaches.
Perhaps, Mauritius single biggest asset is the relaxed charm of its warm and welcoming people. It is also an ideal yachting destination in the Indian Ocean with its beautiful bays, turquoise waters which hold an abundant marine life, some safe public areas and unspoilt mainland.
A good place to start your yacht charter vacation is at Port Louis, the capital of the island, where you will find numerous historic sites, some good restaurants and shops. Mauritius also offer some of the best Game-fishing charters in the world !
During a visit on the island, as soon as you reach the port, you will find the Caudan Waterfront, which is a large colonial styled building hosting numerous modern boutiques and restaurants. For yacht charterers who would like to get a taste of the local shopping, it is particularly recommended to visit the Grand Port Louis Bazaar.
You can also visit the central plateau towns of Quatre Bornes and Curepipe or the Black River Gorges National Park, which is a dramatic virgin forest.
