Tavira along with Lagos is one of the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve. Because of its 37 churches, Tavira is known as the town of churches.
The immediate beach for this town is reached by a ferryboat that takes the visitor to the long attractive sandy-bar island known as Ilha de Tavira. Near to Tavira, there are two areas; Cabanas and Pedras del Rey. Both are are originally very small beachfront villages.
