Belize is a small country located in Central America and is the only English and Spanish speaking nation in the South of Mexico with which it shares a land border. Belize has one foot planted in the Central American jungles and the other dipped in the Caribbean Sea; it blends the best of both worlds. The country has one of the longest and largest Barrier reef in the World with over 1000 offshore islands in its territory.

Belize is a renowned tourist destination in the Caribbean and as a diverse country, it offers a wide variety of attractions such as some incredible diving, sailing, hiking, canoeing, caving and fishing. This part of the Caribbean region is also known world-wide for its perfect sailing conditions where the water is turquoise blue and always warm. It offers a cornucopia of historic and cultural landmarks and attractions as well as a large number of shopping and a profusion of restaurants and nightlife. You can visit the Museum of Belize which offers a world-class amazing museum experience in a supremely designed environment, the Maritime Museum, the Supreme Court Building, the Baron Bliss Institute that features the National Arts Council displays, the Government House Museum and the St. Johns Cathedral.

Belize is a renowned yacht charter destination in the Caribbean and yacht charterers will have the opportunity to visit the 1000 beautiful islands which are scattered everywhere. However it is recommended that before you sail, you have to be aware of all the safety issues. Special care should be taken when you travel near the barrier reef and the time of the year is also very important. You can enter the island through 4 different ports: Belize City, Cay Caulker, Punta Gorda and San Pedro which lies on Ambergris Cay.

When entering or exiting Belizean waters, you will have to clear customs, immigration and quarantine within 24 hours. Officials patrol the waters to ensure that these rules are being followed. Customs will require four copies of each of the crew lists and store lists, as well as the papers of the ship.
