London boat show 2012

May 27, 2016

span style=”font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;”>blog_london_ boat_ show2012The London Boat Show is held each January at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London, just opposite the O2 and the centre of London”s business and entertainment centre. This year from the 6th to 15th January.

It is a very large event, now in its 54th year, which uses ExCeL”s two 32,500 square metre halls. It is organised by National Boat Shows, which is a subsidiary of the British Marine Federation, the trade association for the UK boating industry.
The show is the perfect start to the season and returns this year with around 1,000 boats, more than 500 exhibitors, new technology and a variety of innovative products.
The Show features a wide range of boats, boating equipment and clothing with interactive sections and feature attractions devoted to boating. There is also a display of tall boats and other vessels in the Royal Victoria Dock immediately outside the exhibition centre. In every shape and guise from a something the size of a small shed – all the way up to something that’s as big as a house! There are boats of every size and shape to suit you.

Glorious boats… and lots of them!

blog_london_marina_boatsVisitors to the Show will be impressed by the choice of boats  – from river cruisers to super yachts, ski boats to inflatable tenders you will find a boat to suit your needs and budget.  If you are simply looking for advice, many of the exhibitors are members of the Leisure Boat Builders Association (LBBA) the association that has members as diverse as Princess & Sunseeker, manufacturers of motor yachts, to Oyster Yachts, Rib-x and Southerly.
Used power boats can be found on the Used Boats Marina in association with yachtworld.com – to access it simply go into the South Hall (where all the boats are) and follow the signage. Many of the used boats on display are being brokered by members of the Boat Retailers & Brokers Association who provide great info on how to purchase a boat.
The Show is also the home to services that support power boaters – training schools, insurance, berthing, engine and electronics manufacturers are all under one roof at Excel. The LBBA & BRAB is an association of the British Marine Federation (BMF) the trade association for the leisure, small commercial and super yacht industries. When you purchase from a BMF member you can purchase with the knowledge that members operate their business inline with the BMFs code of practice.

This is the place to indulge your passion or simply find out what it takes to start. With owners and experts on hand to talk to and help you and sailing boats and yachts both on and off the water. You can even get in a boat and sail on the massive watersports action pool.
In addition to the many sailing boats of all shapes and sizes there is a packed diary at the Show for sailors.  Whether you are a cruising sailor, a racing sailor, or looking to take up sailing of any form there will be a whole host of great events for you at the 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show

The World Cruising Club will be holding a seminar on the ARC on Sunday 8th January including how to equip your boat, what you should be focusing on. There will be an ex ARC boat at the Show that you can inspect and glean some ideas from – you could also buy the boat.
