Les Voiles de St Tropez was previously known as the Nioulargue. The event gathers over 300 of the most extraordinary sailing yachts, classic and modern, where racing crew and sailing enthusiasts from all corners of the globe come together to do battle in the bay of Saint Tropez.
Les Voiles are based out of the Old Port of St Tropez, where the high society of Europe gathers for the last yachting regatta of the season. A top venue to host a regatta, the Old Port provides a perfect backdrop to the yachts and the social activities which take place every evening around the harbour. The back streets are full of lovely little restaurants and bars, and there is something to suit everyone, from the very chic and very expensive, to normal French pavement cafes.
There is also the Club 55 which is in Saint Tropez. The Club 55 is the meeting place for the high society. Club 55 is a typically Provencal beach bungalow with white canopies and lavish beach club jetting all the way to the Mediterranean. A wooden pier extends into the water, luring star-studded occupants away from their mega-yachts parked offshore and into the land of the fabulous. No matter how famous or well known, guests should expect to book well in advance, more modest types may prefer a simple lunch within the main dining room, offering all the views of the elite with a more digestible price tag. The best way to arrive at Club55 is to come by boat on a yacht charter and park in the bay.
The entire port of St Tropez is filled for the week with classic sailing yachts, which is a spectator sport itself. Sailing enthusiasts walk the port just staring at the beauty of these yachts, and then take a spectator boat out on the water to watch the numerous races. The air is festive all day and late into the evening.
