Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011

May 27, 2016

The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2011 will be held from the 11th to the 12th of November on the Yas Marina Circuit. There are 21 challenging turns on the track and is the longest straight on a current Grand Prix circuit, with races of top speeds of almost 320km/h. From thrilling racing on-track to live bands, DJs, family activities and merchandise kiosks in the oasis areas, this is one event not to be missed.

Formula 1 was first introduced to Abu Dhabi in 2007 in the guise of the first ever Formula One Festival. The event which took place on 3 February 2007 was free and the largest gathering of current Formula One cars and drivers outside of a Grand Prix. Click here view the yachts.

At the festival it was announced that Abu Dhabi had won the rights to host a Grand Prix from 2009 until 2016. Later that year, Etihad Airways negotiated a three-year deal for them to become sponsors of the Grand Prix.

The race was Formula One first ever day-night race, starting at 17:00 local time. Floodlights used to illuminate the circuit were switched on from the start of the event to ensure there is a seamless transition from daylight to darkness. The circuit is 5.554 Km in length.

The Yas Marina Circuit is easily accessible by road from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Circuit is built on a natural island. From Abu Dhabi it will take around half an hour to reach Yas Marina, while from Dubai Airport the journey will over an hour, but from Jebal Ali may take half an hour.

Access to the circuit is via a 12-lane highway which can be accessed from the Sheik Maktoum (E10) highway from Abu Dhabi, or the Sheik Zayed (E11) highway from Dubai. Abu Dhabi International Airport is about a 15 minute drive.

The F1 Yas Marina track is 5.55 km long. Approximately 50,000 spectators can view the action on the circuit from the comfort of permanent, covered grandstands and air-conditioned VIP evt_abudhabif1yachtcharter_2facilities.

The Yas Marina Circuit grandstands are all covered. The Yas Marina Pit Building has 40 garages for teams and officials and is surmounted by hospitality facilities.

Every seat on the circuit should have a special view. Spectators in the North Grandstand will enjoy the hairpin; those in the South Grandstand look out over the 500 room The Yas Hotel, the Marina and the Yacht Club.

The seating on top of the Support Pit Building will allow spectators to see the support race action in the pits up close and also take in a broad sweep of the circuit including turns around the Marina.
